Despite all the anticipation and attention, the movie Lone Man, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, and others, did not do well. Fans believed that Om Raut’s adaptation of the Ramayana was terrible and were unreserved in their criticism of the movie and its producers. The Ramayana is a Hindu mythical epic that Raut tells in his own unique style. Nevertheless, it received absolutely no positive feedback. Immediately after, some individuals urged a ban and boycott of Adipurush. The creators were the targets of PILs and legal actions for offending religious sensitivities. The Supreme Court simultaneously issued a directive that will provide some solace to the producers.
Supreme Court Refuses To Cancel Cbfc Certification Of Adipurush
Well, one of the petitions that were filed against Om Raut and the Adipurush creators contained a request to overturn or revoke the CBFC’s certification of the movie. The petitioner argued that the certification under Section 32 Section 5B of the Cinematography Act should be revoked since the CBFC failed to adhere to the regulations necessary for the approval of films for public exhibition. The Supreme Court, however, declined to provide a justification for why the bench should investigate matters for which the Act specifies a specific procedure for getting a certificate.
Everyone has evolved into being sensitive about everything, according to Justice Kaul. He queries whether everyone will attend Supreme Court for this and whether everything must be checked right away. Justice claims, quoting an entertainment news website: “The level of tolerance for movies, books, and artwork is waning. Currently, people may be seriously injured at times or not. But we won’t begin to entertain them in accordance with Article 32.”
Supreme Court Will Not Look Into Cbfc’s Certificates
The judgment also asserts that the film cannot accurately depict what is described in the scriptures. Yet, a committee has been established to make sure that such suggestions are not given any weight. And that organization gave the movie a review, certified it, and then made some alterations. On the grounds of each person’s sensitivity, the Supreme Court declined to be the body that would consider revoking certificates issued by the CBFC. In addition to this, the SC also suspended the High Court lawsuits filed against the movies.
Adipurush received criticism for how it portrayed characters such as Lord Rama, Hanuman, Ravana, and others. Also pulled were the dialogues. Notwithstanding modifications made by the producers in response to criticism, the Prabhas and Kriti Sanon starrer left the audience unimpressed. The company quickly went bankrupt.
