Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, said on Monday that the movie “The Kerala Story” by Sudipto Sen will be banned. Since the trailer came out, the movie has been in a lot of trouble. People used to say that the trailer was bad because it said that 32,000 girls from Kerala went missing and later joined the terrorist group ISIS.

Mamata Banerjee was quoted by the news agency ANI as saying, “The government of West Bengal has decided to ban the movie The Kerala Story.” This is done so that hate and violence don’t happen and to keep the peace in the state.”
Also, she said, “What exactly are The Kashmir Files? It’s a slur on a group. What happened in Kerala? … The story is skewed.’ Filmmaker Vipul Shah said, in response to the decision, “If he did this, we will go to court.” We will do everything that the law allows us to do to fight.”
The Kerala Story was taken out of theaters in Tamil Nadu not too long ago. M. Subramaniam, the head of the Tamil Nadu Theater and Multiplex Owners’ Association, confirmed the decision and told the news agency PTI, “Only a few multiplexes owned by all-India groups, mostly PVRs, showed the movie. Local multiplexes had already decided not to show the movie because it didn’t have any well-known actors or actresses. So far, Coimbatore has had two shows, one on Friday and the other on Saturday. Even he didn’t do well. Given this, the cheaters decided that protesting and putting themselves in danger wasn’t worth it.
The lead roles in The Kerala Story are played by Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani, and Sonia Balani. The film, which was directed by Sudipto Sen and made by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, caused a huge political stir, and many people called it a propaganda film.
Earlier, the Kerala High Court said that the people who made the movie put out a disclaimer that says the movie is made up and a dramatization of real events. It also said that the movie doesn’t say that what happens in it is true or accurate.
Even though many people wanted to stop the movie from coming out, the High Court didn’t stop it. On its third day in India, the film “frozen” made 16 crores at the box office. Since it came out on May 5, this has cost them $35 million.
