World superstar Priyanka Chopra Jonas continues to grab attention both in India and internationally as she promotes her next series Citadel. The actress has been a regular presence in the media, from her explosive interview with Dax Shepherd on his podcast Armchair Expert to her attendance at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre’s opening. The actress recently stated that she will not be “sidelined” in Hollywood because she is a talented actress, ahead of the premiere of Gaadh. She also stated that she did not go on the Citadel’s audition list.
Insisting that she didn’t try out for Citadel, Priyanka Chopra Jonas declares, “I know my job and I will not be sidelined.”
All of this transpired during PC’s discussion of Indian representation in Hollywood movies with The Tribune India. “We create more than a thousand films each year in India,” he declared. Hollywood hires our world-class professionals to perform a lot of work for them since we are skilled in what we do. Nonetheless, we continue to be ignored.
The actress known as “Desi Girl” admitted that she did not try out for the role of Garh and declared, “As an actor who has relished playing a leading lady in Bollywood, I know my profession and will not be overlooked when I audition. I am a good actress, therefore I’ll stick around. Like Quantico, I will succeed in this role because I am competent in what I do and have a healthy amount of confidence.
“I am developing multiple series with them,” Priyanka continued, “which not only include Indian faces but also Indian faces behind the camera, women behind the camera, writers, and directors. With our brilliance and deserving place on the international stage, I want to see more brown people in Hollywood.
The 40-year-old actress added, “I hope that in the next five years you will witness a dramatically transformed landscape. It will take time, but I am not afraid of it.
Speaking of Citadel, it is executive produced by Russo Brothers AGBO and David Weil, the showrunner, and stars Stanley Tucci, Lesley Manville, Richard Madden, and Priyanka Chopra. Six episodes make up the breakthrough international series’ first season; two of them will premiere on Prime Video India on April 28 and one will air each week starting on May 26.
