Sunil Dutt has been an iconic personality and a great orator. He knew how to hold the attention of his audience. And once he did just that when he attended the music launch of his son Sanjay Dutt’s film Khoobsurat with Urmila Matondkar. Everyone remembers the famous song ‘Ae Shivani Tu Lagti Hai Nani’! from the movie. This is just for reference so that you don’t forget the context of the event we are about to reveal.

So, Dutt Sr. was attending the music launch of the film and wondered if he was singing Ae Shivani! Rather than let Sanjay Dutt show off his well built body and muscles. We don’t say or want to, but Dutt Sr certainly wanted to as he expressed his desire to sing Khoobsurat’s songs with Urmila on screen.

However, the way he expressed his wish was a bit awkward. But given the respect he had earned, people ignored the awkwardness of the conversation and laughed it off. Scroll down to read what Sunil Dutt had to say about romancing on-screen and missing out on female leads.

Talking to the media, the Mother India actor said, “Because in our times, we did not get the chance to touch the heroine. There was only one chance in the end that when everything was over then there was a chance to hug. Villain used to get more chances. (In our generation we never got a chance to touch or hug the heroine. We rarely got a scene, sometimes at the end of the film, when everything was settled, maybe then the lead actors hugged. Villains get more such opportunities.)

However, what came next was shocking. He further added, “Even then I remember that even at that time the heroine was so shy that she used to put her hand in between before hugging. I wish Sanjay Dutt was my father and I was his son, aaj yeh Khoobsurat songs main raha hoon.” (I remember, despite getting rare opportunities to hug actresses, they were so shy to hug that they kept their hands in between. I wish I was Sanjay Dutt’s son and he was my father, so today I would be singing these Khoobsurat songs.)

As soon as Sunil Dutt expressed his wish, the film’s actress, Urmila Matondkar tried to stay calm and tried not to laugh, but giggled at the actor’s statement and covered her face to not show it. The video was shared by an Instagram handle called EntertainmentSe and you can watch it here.
