Brahmastra, starring Ranbir Kapoor, has been in the news ever since it was first announced. It’s also no secret that the Ayan Mukerji-directed movie took a while to arrive in theaters, opening only last year. Nevertheless, not everyone is familiar with RK’s father, renowned actor Rishi. Kapoor, who passed away in 2020, didn’t have much faith in the movie and reportedly argued with crew members when it was being made. Scroll down to learn more.
This movie was the first in which Alia Bhatt was coupled with Ranbir, and it also has a significant impact on her love life. However, one of the main causes of its delay was the film’s considerable VFX usage. On April 30, Rishi unfortunately succumbed to his sickness and passed away, leaving a vacuum in the Hindi cinema industry.
As the Brahmastra motion poster was unveiled in New Delhi in 2021, Ranbir Kapoor recounted the argument his father Rishi Kapoor had with him while the film was being shot. He was revealing the first image of his persona Shiva, according Hindustan Times. RK reflected on the actor’s passing and his father, saying, “Today I miss my father a lot. He continued battling with Ayaan and myself during the course of shooting this movie over the past few years and asking us, “What are you doing?” “Who makes movies so slowly?” Who makes such large purchases?
According to Ranbir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor informed him that Brahmastra will not be a financially successful movie. “Ranbir, you are not making a dime off of this movie,” he said. No one in India watches VFX movies, kaun dekhega.
In addition, Ranbir added, “But I think he’s here someplace. I hope he is happy and that he is smiling. And just to give him a little tribute, if you guys know it, please join me,” he said. He then quoted from Rishi Kapoor’s classic movie Karz, saying, “Kya tumne kabhi kisi se pyaar kiya, kabhi kisi ko dil diya, maine bhi diya,” before blowing a kiss to the sky.
The film Brahmastra Part One – Shiva, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, was released in September of last year. Throughout the course of its theatrical run, it made an average of 244 crore.
On the professional front, Ranbir Kapoor will star alongside Rashmika Mandanna in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, set to open in theaters in December of this year.
