“Jonny Bairstow Set to Make Comeback for Yorkshire Ahead of Ashes”

Jonny Bairstow, the England team’s wicketkeeper, will bat and keep wicket when Yorkshire resumes competitive cricket next week. Having missed the 2022 Twenty20 World Cup and IPL 2023 due to a freak injury sustained on a golf course in September, Bairstow has not played cricket since.

He reportedly shattered his leg while playing golf with friends in Yorkshire, and two days later underwent surgery in London.

He slipped, hurt himself, and his fibula fractured many times.

The 33-year-old is expected to keep wickets for Yorkshire against Nottinghamshire and demonstrate his fitness ahead of the crucial Ashes series against Australia, which gets underway on June 16 in Edgbaston.

Ottis Gibson, the head coach of Yorkshire, said, “He’s had such a long layoff, so it’s a fitness assessment for him to see what his capacity is and what he can do on the field in terms of running around in the outfield or standing behind the stumps. He will probably do both to see which one he’s most comfortable with.

In the playing 11, Jonny Bairstow might take the position of regular wicket-keeper Ben Foakes if he can demonstrate his fitness before the one-off game against Ireland.

Before an injury forced him out of the Ben Stokes-led team, Bairstow was in phenomenal form in red-ball cricket in 2022, making four stunning hundreds and becoming a staple in the team.

Jonny Bairstow was replaced by Harry Brook, who performed remarkably well in the brief time he had. The 24-year-old has amassed a remarkable strike rate of 98.80 in the lengthier format while scoring 809 runs from six matches at an average of 80.9. In all forms of the game, the batter is anticipated to play a significant role for England in the future.

Punjab Kings Are Missing Jonny Bairstow In The Middle Order In IPL 2023

As one of the top white-ball players in the world, England wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow was greatly missed by the Punjab Kings in IPL 2023 because the Shikhar Dhawan-led team’s middle order batting lineup lacked experience. Bairstow amassed 253 runs in 11 innings during the IPL 2022 while also hitting two half-centuries and batting at a strike rate of 144.57. At the 2022 auction, Bairstow was purchased by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for INR 6.75 crores.

The 2023 season for the Punjab Kings has been uneven; they have won four of their seven games in the league stage, but they will need to improve their consistency if they want to advance further. Despite missing their regular captain Shikhar Dhawan for the past three games, they have managed to win the other two.
