0

The IPL 2023 match between the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) will take place on May 16 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The fate of LSG is still in their own hands, and if they win their last two games, they will make the playoffs. After KL Rahul was ruled out for the season, Krunal Pandya took over as captain. So far, LSG has won six of their twelve games and lost five. They have thirteen points to their name.

LSG easily beat DC in their first game of the season, but they lost a close game to CSK. Then, in Bangalore, LSG won two games in a row against SRH and RCB. In Lucknow, LSG lost a close match to PBKS in the last over. LSG got back on its feet and beat RR in Jaipur. But they lost against GT in Lucknow because they couldn’t make up for a low score at home. Then, LSG beat PBKS in Mohali with the second-highest IPL score of all time. LSG lost to RCB because the batters couldn’t reach the low target on a hard pitch during a game where players got into fights during and after the game. Rain put an end to their game against CSK. Then, for the second time this season, they lost to GT.

Last time out, Prerak Mankad made his mark with a crucial knock of 64* off 45, and Marcus Stoinis (40 off 25) and Nicholas Pooran (44* off 13) helped LSG win by seven wickets after Heinrich Klassen (47 off 29), Abdul Samad (37 off 25), and Anmolpreet Singh (36 off 27) had helped SRH reach a competitive 182/6.

This season, Kyle Mayers has hit four half-centuries and scored 361 runs. Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis have each gotten 279 and 292 runs. So far, Ayush Badoni has also contributed with 212 runs. Since Rahul got hurt and Quinton de Kock took his place, the team has done well. LSG has used an all-Indian bowling line-up so that all four batters from outside India can play. So far, the results have been mixed.

Deepak Hooda has been terrible this season, so Mankad is likely to take his place on the team after scoring 50 runs in the last game.

Avesh Khan, Yash Thakur, Yudhvir Singh, and Mohsin Khan are all promising young seam bowlers from India who are all vying for starting spots on the LSG team. After KL Rahul got hurt, this gave LSG the chance to strengthen their batting by bringing in four international batsmen. They are expected to stick with the same lineup for the next games.

So far, Ravi Bishnoi has taken 12 wickets. Between them, Avesh Khan and Krunal Pandya have taken sixteen wickets. Amit Mishra and Marcus Stoinis have also helped by taking a total of twelve wickets. Yash Thakur and Yudhvir Singh have also helped out by taking a combined nine wickets.

Even though Mark Wood and Naveen-ul-Haq have taken 18 wickets between them in 9 games, they are not likely to be in the starting eleven because the team already has four batters from outside of the country.

For the game against MI, LSG is likely to keep the same team.
